Quick Start Guide

Get started with Archivus in 5 minutes. Learn how to upload documents, search, and chat with your documents.

Step 1: Sign Up

  1. Go to archivus.app
  2. Click "Sign Up" or "Get Started"
  3. Enter your email and create a password
  4. Verify your email (check your inbox)

  • 25 documents
  • 500 MB storage
  • 10 AI credits per month
  • Basic AI features

Step 2: Upload Your First Document

Method 1: Drag and Drop (Easiest)

  1. Go to your Dashboard (home page when you log in)
  2. Drag a file from your computer onto the dashboard
  3. Drop it - The file will start uploading automatically
  4. Wait for processing - You'll see a progress indicator

Tip

You can drag multiple files at once for batch upload!

Method 2: Upload Button

  1. Click the Upload button in the sidebar (or press Cmd+U)
  2. Select files from your computer
  3. Click Upload or press Enter
  4. Wait for processing (usually 30-60 seconds)

Method 3: From Archie

  1. Open Archie (click "Archie" in sidebar or go to /archie)
  2. Click the upload icon in the chat input area
  3. Select your file
  4. File uploads and you can immediately ask questions about it

Supported File Types

Step 3: Search Your Documents

  1. Press Cmd+K (or Ctrl+K on Windows/Linux)
  2. Type your search query
  3. Results appear instantly
  4. Click a result to open the document
  1. Go to the Search page (click "Search" in sidebar)
  2. Select "Semantic" mode (default)
  3. Type a natural language query like "contracts expiring soon"
  4. Archivus finds documents by meaning, not just keywords

Try These Queries

  • "Find all invoices from last month"
  • "Documents about employee benefits"
  • "Contracts expiring in Q4"

Step 4: Chat with Your Documents

  1. Click "Archie" in the sidebar (or go to /archie)
  2. Add documents using @ mentions (type @ then document name)
  3. Ask questions like:
  4. "What is this document about?"
  5. "What are the key terms?"
  6. "When does this contract expire?"

Archie will:

  • Answer your questions
  • Provide source citations
  • Show confidence scores
  • Remember context in the conversation

Step 5: Organize Your Documents

Create Folders

  1. Click "New Folder" button
  2. Name your folder (e.g., "Contracts", "Invoices")
  3. Drag documents into folders

Use Tags

  1. Open a document
  2. Click "Tags" or "Add Tag"
  3. Add tags like "important", "Q4-2025", "legal"
  4. AI can also auto-tag documents

AI Auto-Tagging

Documents are automatically tagged by AI based on content:

  • Document type (contract, invoice, report)
  • Topics and themes
  • Important entities (people, dates, amounts)
